Utility & Service Van Upfit for Roadside Operations
Project Overview: ADS Environmental Services Fleet Upfit
ADS Environmental Services operates a fleet of Mercedes Sprinter service vans equipped with integrated vehicle safety lighting systems, storage solutions, and custom interior components designed for roadside and field operations. American Trucks & Vans engineered each vehicle as a fully integrated work platform built for long-term commercial use.
Each van was developed to perform reliably in real-world conditions where visibility, organization, and efficiency are critical. Integrated vehicle safety lighting, structured cargo storage, and purpose-built work surfaces were combined into a single system designed to support crews working safely and effectively in the field.
Vehicle Safety Lighting Systems for Commercial Vans
Vehicle safety lighting is a critical system for roadside service vehicles, where crews often operate in active traffic environments with limited visibility and frequent roadside exposure.
Vehicle Safety Lighting for Roadside Operations
For this ADS Environmental Services fleet, American Trucks & Vans integrated a multi-layer lighting system that includes four-corner warning strobes, rear scene lighting, and door-jamb mounted strobes designed to maintain visibility when rear cargo doors are open in all weather conditions.
These systems work together to improve vehicle awareness for approaching traffic and support safer working conditions during field operations.
Organized Storage & Equipment in a Commercial Vehicle Upfit
This ADS Environmental Services fleet was equipped with Ranger Design shelving and storage systems to support efficient tool organization, secure equipment transport, and fast access to critical supplies in the field.
Lockable cabinetry and open shelving configurations were integrated into the cargo area to keep tools organized and protected while maintaining clear workflow zones for technicians working in and out of the vehicle.
The system is designed for daily commercial use where organization and durability directly impact field efficiency and jobsite performance.
Field Productivity & Workstation Features
These vans are designed for active field use where technicians need functional workspace access throughout the day.
These features complement the vehicle safety lighting system by improving workflow efficiency during roadside operations.
Durable Interior Components
Each vehicle was outfitted with commercial-grade interior materials selected for continuous fleet use. Flooring, wall protection, cabinetry, the workbench, and mounting systems were specified to withstand heavy daily operation in demanding field environments. While not directly part of the vehicle safety lighting system, these components support safe and reliable field operation over time.
Legend flooring and wall surfaces provide a stable, wear-resistant foundation designed for frequent loading, equipment movement, and day-to-day use, while reinforced diamond plate thresholds protect high-impact entry points at the rear doors.
Lockable storage systems and reinforced shelving are engineered to secure tools and equipment during transport, helping minimize movement, reduce wear, and maintain organization over time.
A full-length interior workbench was installed opposite the Ranger Design shelving to create a dedicated functional workspace within the cargo area, supporting organized task separation and efficient interior workflow.
These interior components are designed to maintain performance, structure, and appearance over an extended service life under continuous commercial use.
Custom Engineering in a Commercial Van Upfit
These systems were engineered to optimize space, visibility, and workflow within a compact commercial van platform. The custom engineering in this commercial van upfit also supports vehicle safety lighting integration and system layout efficiency.
A custom bulkhead partition was installed to separate the cab from the cargo area. The design also supports integrated overhead storage extending above the cab, maximizing usable volume without compromising driver access or safety.
Lighting systems were integrated into the roof structure to provide uniform illumination throughout the cargo area, improving visibility and supporting safe operation in low-light field environments.

Fleet Built for Long-Term Service Commercial Vans
This project consists of a six-vehicle commercial service fleet engineered for consistent performance in roadside and field operations.
Each van was designed with an expected service life of 200,000–250,000 miles, with every system selected to support durability, reliability, and long-term operational use in demanding environments.
Across the fleet, the goal was consistency—ensuring that each vehicle delivers the same layout, safety systems, and workflow efficiency so technicians can operate seamlessly from unit to unit in the field.
